Bharat Electronics Limited Recruitment 2026: Technician and Diploma Trainee Posts

Bharat Electronics Limited — a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence, working on defence electronics, radar systems and aerospace technology — recruits its technical cadre through unit-wise notifications, on a permanent basis.

Technician ‘C’ starts at ₹21,500 – 3% – ₹82,000 plus admissible allowances. Engineering Assistant Trainee requires a three-year diploma. Both accept freshers — no prior experience is required for either post.

And BEL’s Technician ‘C’ eligibility contains a provision that appears nowhere else in this series:

“SSLC + ITI in the relevant trade with one year apprenticeship training and National Apprenticeship Certificate — or SSLC + 3 years National Apprenticeship Certificate Course in the relevant trade.”

Read the second clause. A candidate with a Class 10 pass and a three-year NAC course — and no ITI at all — is eligible for a permanent BEL post.

The apprenticeship is not merely accepted here. It is a complete alternative to the ITI.

1. The NAC Route — And the Version Without an ITI

BEL’s Technician ‘C’ eligibility offers two paths:

RouteRequirement
Route 1SSLC + ITI in the relevant trade from a recognised institution + one year apprenticeship training with National Apprenticeship Certificate in the relevant trade
Route 2SSLC + 3 years National Apprenticeship Certificate Course in the relevant trade

Route 1 is the pattern established at BHEL — the ITI is not sufficient on its own; the NAC is required in addition.

Route 2 is new to this series. No ITI is required at all. A three-year NAC course on top of a Class 10 pass qualifies a candidate for a permanent Navratna PSU post.

Set the pattern across the whole technical tier:

EmployerPosition on the apprenticeship certificate
RRB Technician Grade IIICCAA accepted in lieu of ITI
BHEL Artisan Grade IVNAC required in addition to ITI
ISRO Technician-BNAC accepted alongside ITI/NTC
AVNL Junior TechnicianNAC accepted alongside ITI/NTC
BEL Technician ‘C’NAC required in addition to ITI — or a 3-year NAC course with no ITI at all

Five employers. One certificate.

This is the strongest conclusion available from this series: in the PSU technical tier, the National Apprenticeship Certificate is not a supplement to the ITI. It is the currency.

RRB accepts it instead of an ITI. BHEL and BEL require it in addition. ISRO and AVNL accept it alongside. And BEL will take it entirely on its own.

For a Class 10 candidate deciding what to do next, the arithmetic is clear. An ITI alone does not qualify you for BHEL Artisan Grade IV or BEL Technician ‘C’. The apprenticeship does more work than the ITI does.

2. The Two Posts

Technician ‘C’

AspectDetail
QualificationSSLC + ITI + 1-year apprenticeship with NACor SSLC + 3-year NAC course
TradesRelevant trade — the Chennai notification covered Electronics Mechanic among others
Pay₹21,500 – 3% – ₹82,000 plus admissible allowances
BasisPermanent
ExperienceNone required

Note the pay structure: ₹21,500 – 3% – ₹82,000. The 3% annual increment is built into the scale — the same IDA-pattern structure seen at POWERGRID (₹24,000–3%–₹1,08,000) and NTPC.

Context: ₹21,500 sits just below DRDO CEPTAM Technician-A’s ₹21,700 (Level 3) and above RRB Technician Grade III’s ₹19,900 (Level 2) — but on an IDA scale rising to ₹82,000, rather than a CDA pay matrix.

Engineering Assistant Trainee

AspectDetail
QualificationThree-year Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a recognised institution
Marks (General/OBC-NCL/EWS)Minimum 60% aggregate
Marks (SC/PwBD)Minimum 50% aggregate
BasisPermanent
ExperienceNone required

The marks differential — 60% against 50% — follows the same shape as POWERGRID, where General/OBC/EWS diploma candidates need 70% and SC/ST/PwBD need only pass marks.

Disciplines in the Chennai notification: Electronics, Civil and Electronics Mechanic.

3. Eligibility Conditions

CriterionDetail
Age18 to 28 years as on 01.06.2026
RelaxationPer government norms for reserved categories
Experience“No prior experience required for both Engineering Assistant Trainee and Technician ‘C’ posts.”
Multiple applications“Candidates can apply separately for each post if they meet the eligibility criteria for both.”

Note the last provision. A candidate holding both a diploma and an ITI-plus-NAC may apply for both posts separately — unlike Yantra India, where only one application is permitted at all.

The Employment Exchange Condition

“Freshers are eligible to apply, subject to the prescribed educational qualifications and valid Tamil Nadu Employment Exchange registration.”

A valid Employment Exchange registration in the state of the unit is required.

This is the same provision seen at Assam SLPRB, where registration with an Assam Employment Exchange is required at the point of application.

It is easily missed, and it takes time to obtain. Candidates targeting a specific BEL unit should register with that state’s Employment Exchange in advance of the notification, not after it.

4. Selection

StageDetail
1. Computer Based TestThe selection instrument
2. Document VerificationOriginals

“The selection process includes a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification.”

Note what is absent: there is no interview for Engineering Assistant Trainee and Technician ‘C’.

This differs from BEL’s engineer-grade posts. For Project Engineer, Trade Apprentice, Trainee Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Deputy Engineer (E-II Grade), Contract Engineer and Probationary Engineer, “the written exam is conducted as one of the phases of selection. The candidates who have qualified in the written exam are allowed to appear for the interview.”

The technical cadre is decided by the CBT. The engineer cadre adds an interview.

BEL releases an answer key after the written test, allowing candidates to estimate scores and raise objections — accessible through the recruitment portal using login credentials.

5. The Chennai Notification

Application17 June to 8 July 2026
Age reference01.06.2026

A wider Chennai notification covered 33 vacancies across Senior Assistant Engineer, Engineering Assistant Trainee, Technician ‘C’ and Trainee Engineer-I, with 1 July 2026 as the closing date for Trainee Engineer-I and 8 July 2026 for the other three.

On the fee — sources conflict. One reports ₹295 including GST for General/OBC(NCL)/EWS; another reports ₹590. SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen are exempted in both accounts. Verify in the notification PDF.

Note the scale: 7 vacancies. BEL’s technical notifications are small and unit-specific — very different from Yantra India’s 3,979 or RRB’s 6,557. They compensate by being frequent.

6. BEL Recruits Unit by Unit

As with ISRO and IOCL, there is no single national BEL technical notification.

BEL operates units at Bangalore (headquarters), Chennai, Ghaziabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Machilipatnam, Panchkula, Kotdwara, Navi Mumbai and Taloja, and each advertises its own requirements.

The 2026 notifications illustrate the cadence:

“BEL Recruitment 2026 notification will be released by Bharat Electronics Limited in August 2026” — for the broader annual drive.

The instruction: monitor bel-india.in’s Job Notifications page directly. These are unit-level advertisements with short windows, and they do not follow a single calendar.

7. The Other BEL Routes — And Their Terms

Senior Assistant Engineer — An Ex-Servicemen Post

This one is worth naming, because it is genuinely unusual:

RequirementDetail
QualificationDiploma in Engineering or equivalent in Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Communication and related disciplines
Service condition“Candidates should have been discharged from service on or after 01.06.2021”
Knowledge requiredOperation and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment in Army, Air Force or Naval systems
DesirableExperience in battle tanks / gunnery

This is a diploma-level post targeted at recently discharged ex-servicemen with defence electronics experience. 43 vacancies were notified in the Electronics discipline.

For an ex-serviceman with a technical diploma and armed forces equipment experience, this is a direct route into a Navratna PSU — and it is not competing with the general diploma field.

Trainee Engineer-I — Contractual

AspectDetail
QualificationB.E./B.Tech/B.Sc EngineeringPass Class required
Pay₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month, progressive
BasisContractualinitial 2 years, extendable by 1 additional year based on project requirements and performance
AdditionalAnnual benefits of ₹12,000 covering medical insurance, attire allowance, stitching charges and footwear allowance
SelectionWritten exam is the primary criteria

Note the contrast that matters for this series:

Engineering Assistant Trainee and Technician ‘C’ are permanent. Trainee Engineer-I — which requires a B.E./B.Tech — is contractual, for two years plus one.

The degree buys higher pay (₹30,000–₹40,000 against ₹21,500) and worse tenure. For a diploma or ITI holder, that is worth knowing: the post you are eligible for is the permanent one.

8. Pay and Benefits

BEL’s salary range across posts runs approximately ₹21,500 to ₹90,000 per month.

Beyond basic pay, employees receive:

Dearness Allowance · House Rent Allowance · Provident Fund · Gratuity · Pension · Leave Encashment · Group Insurance · Personal Accident Insurance · medical facilities for themselves and their families

Probation: “Most newly appointed candidates serve a probation period of one to two years. During this time, performance, discipline, and technical competence are closely evaluated before confirmation.”

Training: “Selected candidates undergo structured induction and technical training. Training focuses on engineering tools, project processes, quality systems, and workplace safety.”

BEL’s Statement on Its Own Recruitment

BEL publishes the following on its Job Notifications page, and it is worth reading before responding to any listing:

“All recruitments at Bharat Electronics Limited are advertised through this official website (www.bel-india.in) only.”

“Fee collected from the candidate/applicant will be as mentioned in the advertisement posted on this website. No other fee will be charged.”

“BEL does not collect any money except application fee which is mentioned in the advertisement posted on BEL website www.bel-india.in.”

The practical guidance follows directly: check every BEL vacancy against bel-india.in before acting on it, and note that the only payment BEL requires is the application fee stated in the advertisement itself.

10. Documents Checklist

  • SSLC certificate
  • ITI certificate in the relevant trade — Route 1
  • National Apprenticeship Certificaterequired for Technician ‘C’ under both routes
  • 3-year NAC course certificateRoute 2, where no ITI is held
  • 3-year Diploma in Engineering60% Gen/OBC/EWS, 50% SC/PwBD — for EAT
  • Valid Employment Exchange registration in the unit’s state
  • Discharge certificate dated on or after 01.06.2021 — for Senior Assistant Engineer
  • Caste / category certificate
  • PwBD or Ex-servicemen documentation, where applicable
  • ☐ Photograph, signature and printed application

11. Assessment

In favour:

  • Permanent posts — unlike Trainee Engineer-I, which is contractual
  • Technician ‘C’ at ₹21,500 – 3% – ₹82,000, with the increment built into the scale
  • A route with no ITI at allSSLC + a 3-year NAC course qualifies for a permanent Navratna PSU post
  • No experience required — freshers eligible for both posts
  • CBT and Document Verification onlyno interview for the technical cadre
  • Candidates may apply separately for both posts if eligible for both
  • SC/PwBD diploma candidates need 50% against 60% for General/OBC/EWS
  • An answer key is published, with objections invited
  • Navratna PSU benefits — DA, HRA, PF, Gratuity, Pension, Group Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance, family medical
  • A dedicated ex-servicemen route at Senior Assistant Engineer

Against:

  • 7 vacancies in the Chennai technical notification — BEL’s technical drives are small
  • Unit-wise notifications with short windows and no common calendar
  • Age 28 — narrower than RRB (30) and ISRO (35)
  • Employment Exchange registration required in the unit’s state
  • 60% for General/OBC/EWS diploma candidates
  • 1 to 2 years of probation
  • Sources conflict on the application fee — ₹295 or ₹590

Recommendations:

If you hold an ITI, get the apprenticeship. BEL’s Technician ‘C’ requires the NAC in addition to the ITI — an ITI alone does not qualify you. The same is true at BHEL. Across this series, five employers require or accept the NAC, and two of them will not take you without it.

If you do not hold an ITI, the three-year NAC course is a complete alternative at BEL — SSLC plus NAC, no ITI. No other employer covered in this series offers that.

Register with your state’s Employment Exchange now. It is a condition of eligibility, it takes time, and the application window is short.

And monitor bel-india.in directly. BEL’s technical notifications are unit-specific, small and frequent — Chennai’s ran 17 June to 8 July. They will not appear on a national schedule, and BEL states that all its recruitment is advertised on that website only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the qualification for BEL Technician ‘C’? Either SSLC + ITI in the relevant trade with one year of apprenticeship training and a National Apprenticeship Certificate, or SSLC + a 3-year National Apprenticeship Certificate Course in the relevant trade. An ITI alone is not sufficient — the NAC is required under both routes.

Q2. Can I apply without an ITI? Yes — through the second route. SSLC plus a 3-year National Apprenticeship Certificate Course in the relevant trade qualifies for Technician ‘C’, with no ITI required.

Q3. What is the BEL Technician ‘C’ salary? ₹21,500 – 3% – ₹82,000 plus admissible allowances. The 3% annual increment is built into the scale. Benefits include DA, HRA, PF, Gratuity, Pension, Leave Encashment, Group Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance and medical facilities for self and family.

Q4. What is the qualification for Engineering Assistant Trainee? A three-year Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a recognised institution, with minimum 60% aggregate marks for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and minimum 50% for SC/PwBD candidates.

Q5. Is experience required? No. “No prior experience required for both Engineering Assistant Trainee and Technician ‘C’ posts.” Freshers are eligible, subject to the prescribed qualifications and a valid Employment Exchange registration in the unit’s state.

Q6. What is the selection process? A Computer Based Test followed by Document Verification. There is no interview for Engineering Assistant Trainee and Technician ‘C’. BEL’s engineer-grade posts — Project Engineer, Trainee Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Deputy Engineer and others — do include an interview after the written exam.

Q7. Can I apply for both posts? Yes. “Candidates can apply separately for each post if they meet the eligibility criteria for both.”

Q8. Are these permanent posts? Yes. Engineering Assistant Trainee and Technician ‘C’ at the Chennai Unit were advertised on a permanent basis. Trainee Engineer-I, which requires a B.E./B.Tech, is contractual — an initial 2 years, extendable by 1 additional year based on project requirements and performance.
