The practical consequence: your diploma percentage is fixed, but the experience weighting is not. At Bilaspur, 20% of the merit is experience — double Surguja’s. A candidate with a year of relevant work is materially better placed at Bilaspur than at Surguja, and should read both notifications rather than applying to the nearer one by default.
3. What the Contractual Post Actually Buys

The contractual post produces an experience certificate. The experience certificate carries 10% to 20% weightage in the next merit list.
This is the same structure documented across the ITI/Diploma series, where an apprenticeship produces the NAC that BHEL and BEL then require. Here, a contractual district post produces the experience that the next district’s merit formula rewards.
It is not a permanent job. It is a qualification for the next application — and at ₹23,350 with no GPF or CPF deductions, it pays while you build it.
4. The State Tier — Assam’s VFA Route
Assam’s Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department recruits Veterinary Field Assistants (VFAs) — 445 posts in the current cycle, at the document verification stage.
But the entry route is unusual, and it is a two-step process.
Step One — The Training Course
Assam runs a “1 Year Elementary Knowledge on A.H. & Veterinary Science” course, with admission through a PAT — candidates are selected against PAT Roll Numbers and admitted category-wise.
The training is conducted at Silchar.
Step Two — VFA Recruitment
Requirements: high school with Biology, plus the completed one-year technical training.
