Two provisions here are unusual and favourable.
There is no negative marking in the Preliminary Examination for Generalist candidates. Compare: IBPS PO deducts 0.25, SSC CGL Tier 1 deducts 0.5. In an examination with no penalty, every question should be attempted — leaving a question blank forfeits a possible mark at no offsetting risk.
English Language marks are not counted for ranking. The section must be cleared to the minimum qualifying standard, but a strong English score gains nothing. Effort is better directed at Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning, which carry the 70 marks that decide the Prelims cut.
Note the Legal exception: 1/4 negative marking is reported for AAO Legal. Confirm against the notification.
